SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETER

The role of the simultaneous interpreter is to interpret in such a manner as to make the recipient feel that they are part of the meeting. The interpreter needs to ensure that there is a minimal delay between hearing the source language and interpreting into the target language.

Such work is extremely tiring demanding total concentration at all times. For this reason interpreters often work in pairs ensuring that the interpreter is always fresh and able to work without undue strain or tiredness.
